We found a new route to cross the river (to get to the North Station) from our hotel, which takes pedestrians across a set of locks. The walkways are moveable and pedestrians yield to boats when they are moving through the locks to get out to the Harbor. This is a very interesting walk which avoids crossing up and over the Charlestown bridge.

Our walk along the Harbor today was quite warm. This is the first day that was hot and humid for us. We sought A/C refuge in the ritzy hotels along the way.
Boston Harbor Hotel
The Boston harbor hotel had an impressive collection of new England area maps dating back to the 1600 and 1700s. I enjoyed looking at the coastline of the US as it was believed to exist back then. Those cartographers had some interesting shapes for the state of NJ back then!
The Harbor Walk
After we had sufficiently melted in the heat, we headed for
Quincy Market to get some lunch...
There is something for everyone here...bagels, salad
and fresh fruit is what we were after.
After lunch it was on to Faneuil Hall and a history lesson...
We listened to an informative presentation about the history of Faneuil Hall.
Then it was back to the hotel. We had to get ready for a
baseball game at Fenway Park!

Did you do the Freedom Walk?
